A few notes (most of you know the drill), we will open promptly at 8am (maybe a few minutes before), please enter in an orderly chill fashion. Go through the store towards the back and make a loop back towards where the NEW RELEASES are. The RSD items will be in organized by band or artists last name. Please know what you are looking for so we can get everyone through in a prompt manner. This is not the time to text your friend if they still want a title if you are standing in front of our RSD record rack! Dig? Of course, you may buy multiple items, but just one TITLE of each per person. No, you can't buy a copy of Bob Dylan Albert Hall for your friend.

Saturday, November 12, 2016

Greetings and upcoming holiday greetings! In addition to Record Store Day in April, did you know that there is a Black Friday Record Store Day edition? It's not quite the blockbuster that April's RSD is, but it's pretty cool nonetheless. We're a participating store and we'll have our list posted no later than November 25th, 2016.

We look to get some pretty sweet titles! We'll post the list on this blogspot page, on our website Rediscover Records, and on our Facebook page. Look for us to tweet the link out as well.

We'll OPEN on Record Store Day Black Friday promptly at 8am and stay open until at least 7pm. Look for complimentary coffee, sodas/bottled water, and treats.

If you're visiting us after being directed to do so on our sometimes-not-so-gadget-friendly-website, we're an indie record shop located in historic downtown Elgin at 9 S. Spring St. Our building dates to the 1800s!

Here's our regular hours
Monday 12pm - 6pm
Tuesday -Saturday 11-7pm
Sunday 12pm - 4pm

Saturday, June 18, 2016

Welcome to Summer Fun at Rediscover Records! Our hours will remain the same throughout the summer. They are listed in our bio, but we'll post them here too!

Monday: 12pm - 6pm
Tuesday: 11am - 7pm
Wednesday: 11 - 7
Thursday: 11-7
Friday: 11-7
Saturday: 11-7
Sunday: 11-7

John and Paul appear to be enjoying "Freewheelin' Bob Dylan"

We will be closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day. That's the "Day", not the film!

Look for extended hours on First Fridays of the month when there may be downtown Elgin activities going on. We welcome buskers in front of the shop. Busking rules in downtown Elgin are pretty relaxed but they do need to be observed. Elgin Busking Guidelines

The Art and Soul Festival will be on August 6th and 7th and is a great event for downtown Elgin. We'll be OPEN that weekend with possible live entertainment in front of our shop or in-store. Stay tuned!

Please follow us on Twitter @RedscvrRecords, Instagram @rediscover_records and "Like" us on Facebook for very up-to-date notes on new releases, brand new preplayed items to the shop, and live music in the shop! Share your photos and hashtag us #rediscoverrecords.

Until then....

We are an official Record Store Day shop and Record Store Day 2016 is April 16th. We will OPEN promptly by 8am on RSD. We will post the list of our RSD titles on our website, our Facebook page, and this blog. We'll tweet out links as well. Look for our list of RSD16 releases no later than April 14th. We anticipate having dozens of the titles, not every artist or title due to the nature of limited pressings of certain titles. Our site at Rediscover Records

We do normally have a decent sized line the morning of RSD. Use your own judgment, of course, if there is a title you are really aching for for when to arrive here. It's usually a great day of camaraderie with fellow music aficionados and fans of Record Store Day and the medium of vinyl. After the initial rush from about 8am to a little after 9am, there are several titles still left, other than the usual one or ten really hot items people are looking for.

We'll normally have some complimentary coffee, soft drinks, bottled water and snacks available. Often times we'll have some live music later in the afternoon or that evening, but as of this writing, we have nothing lined up at the moment.

Saturday, February 20, 2016

We thought we'd put up a few of our newer releases from our New Vinyl rack. Our New Vinyl rack could include brand new releases as well as recent reissues of some of the classics. Inventory is, of course, subject to change but here are a few album covers.

As you can see even from just this small sample size our New Vinyl racks span a wide swath of genres, and this does not even include some of the reggae selections, Iron Maiden reissues, releases by artists like The Black Keys, Hateful Eight Soundtrack, and reissues by The Beatles.

As always more information on our website. You can even shop for certain titles there. https://www.rediscoverrecords.com/
